That just sounds amazing. If ever there was a thread to give RD greatness testimonials. This is it! What an epic ride. :vroom:  :metal:  :olaf:

Turning Wrenches / Re: Radiator Upgrade RZ421

Looks well done. Getting to be a well sorted highly modified bike you have as I live vicariously thru your posts of the Gray Ghost

Getting back to what you said about not having any cooling issues. So when I see some of your ride videos they conjure up bike lust, wander lust at least for me. I figure living in a rural area like that the bike is always on the move and never stuck in traffic.

FWIW I acquired a similar kinda radiator on Ebay to repair my GSXR 1000. Gotta love it for the quality and value and ironically how can be a bad thing to increase the coolant capacity?

I'm thinking they'll likely be held as evidence in any future prosecution of the "kingpin" when/if he's caught.

You're probably right, it makes perfect sense. But wow, I mean when you think about it the collection is huge and it takes up a lot of space. I wonder if they just keep it where it is under lock and key and continuous security that way it isn't looted or destroyed. I think it would make sense to not have to move all of that and spend the funds to relocate it and all that entails and there's the rub...All that taxpayer money spent on silly BS.For sure it's impressive but what a nui$ance.

Looks nice. I bet that bike rips. :vroom:  So correct me if I'm wrong, you say your running it with the Vape ignition? Now in that last pic it looks like a different brand regulator/rectifier. Am I correct to assume that? and if so I guess it's OK to do that? I was always under the impression that the Vape regulator rectifier was recommended to be used with the rest of their ignition system I guess to maintain a reliable optimum functioning set up. Me being a "electrical dummy" I just assume that to mean that using a different brand reg./rec. would possibly fry the Vape coils or something like that.

P.S.- I guess I should be more thoughtful prior to posting. It does look better with the new tail/sea setup. Is it more comfy?...I wonder if it's heavier?

Wow where to begin?...That's an amazing day trip and those sculptures and that area. Just awesome. I would love to ride my Superduke 1290GT out there, I bet it would feel right at home on those roads. Looks kinda surreal, nothing like that where I live and that kinda depresses me. I know I would be pretty bummed if I got stuck in the dark with a tinted windscreen. I actually stick with the clear one and wear sun glasses. Be safe riding.

Now that is way before my time and a first sighting for me. Very unique motorcycle and pretty to look at. I imagine in this day of age it must draw attention from all age groups. So how fast or rather how does it scoot along using the smaller rear sprocket?

Yeah it is pretty, I wonder how long it stays like that? I guess it depends on where you ride and how you take care of it but even then rust never sleeps.

Been following along with interest, tasty upgrade   85HP huh?...now I've been reading about others with this top end and they claim 90-95HP. So would that be 85 at the rear wheel?

Wow, very cool and what a bike to create. So the video claimed a 260 race weight, not sure if that's dry or wet? and a 160hp. It was stated a weight savings of 80+ pounds over a stock R6. I don't know much about the R6, have to look up the specs but I imagine 160hp is a big step up from the stock engine's output.

Wicked niche product though. I remember getting turned on by the BRC 500 kits for the newer fuel injected KTM xcw's. I thought that would be cool as they can be made street legal with the way they are titled. However not cheap to do. I think the KTM kits were about 7k.

Turning Wrenches / Re: Circlip orientation and cylinder ID
September 26, 2025, 07:47:31 AM
I can not answer to the piston circlip(s) position except to say pay attention to not accidently dropping it into the crank area when your properly seating them into the grooves they spring into of the piston.

Regarding identifying the cylinders I personally have Chinese cylinders and I can say they have these tell tale signs of not being original. For example they don't deburr the sides of the fins where they are cut to size and shiny. Also there is a cut mark, where a cutting tool just nipped the surface on the bottom of the reed area, it's not noticeable once installed. There is other differences for sure, maybe best to just take some good pics and add them to this thread. I'm sure somebody could tell you if they are original or not.

Yep you're absolutely right about that. Those couple seconds can be very dramatically contemplative. Took a ride today on my KTM 1290, rode a lot further away from home, a lot faster at times and in some very pretty country. Had to keep myself in check, in other words slow down a bit. However at one point I thought to myself even at say 35 mph. Hitting a deer is still not going to end well.

Hit a baby deer today on the RD. Really got lucky though I tried to swerve out of the way and just nipped it's left hind quarter. Gave a good wiggle to the bars but the bike stayed bolt upright and watched the poor deer do a 360 on it's side. Very, very lucky! no damage to the bike or me or the deer I figure as it bolted off into the woods.

That was a first for me, definitely a ohh sheet moment. :omg:

Yep those are the cylinder kits I got as well.Says Kveldwulf on the packaging.  Looking back, it was worth it to spend more.

Well as far as upgrading the reeds I will definitely do the RM100 mod at some point(hoping tariffs will go away in a few months and it's a better winter project) for now I'm using the stock reed blocks with Boysen reeds. If that's good enough let me know otherwise I'll assume the RM100's are an upgrade.
