Purely out of curiosity here   while sorting through everything home from deep storage an install instruction and troubleshooting pages dropped out of my Yamaha RD Service manual. Discussion was posted by Kevin Bayron back in March 2000! He copied over from WellARD list. I think I may have copied it from the old SOTW RD Discussion site. Did Newtronics simply fade away as better product became available, or get bought by another company, etc.?

They had a very high failure rate back in the day. And I think the company changed hands many years ago too. But like said above, many better choices out there.
At one point I had one new in a box (maybe 15-20 years ago) that I sold on eBay because I wanted something better.

I had one and the thing suddenly failed one day.  You know what i found inside that cheap plastic box?

A very TINY piece of deburr material shorting the thing out!

Took out the piece and it fired right up!

BTW:  Crane Cams XR700 (Mark's "blue-light" special) is the bomb!
