What is available , if any , a quality self learning tuner? I would like to install an exhaust system on my klx300, however I would enjoy some performance gains also. Biggest concern is not running to lean. Very little experience with these units.

few ways to go w that.  is it a narrow band, 1 wire o2 sensor?

RustyRD

I do not know yet, I have just started the investigation of this . I ran across a unit called EjK    Want to install Delkevek exhaust so it doesn't sound like a stealthy lawnmower.

i played with a lot of this stuff with the grom/trail etc.  the EJK units are not bad. self learning? not sure about that. but they will def add a bit of fuel. On the trail i finally went with an EFIE unit, which will actually interrupt the 02 feed tot he ecm and make it think its running leaner than it is. offset the voltage 250mV and its good on that. IF i were in your boat, id go w the ejk unit.

I have the EJK on my WR250R.  Works fine.  You can go with the recommended settings, for your application and mods, from EJK, and then tweak if you feel the need.  There is plenty of info on the Kawasaki forum regarding the KLX/EJK regarding different set-ups and settings.

Thanks ya'll , I have been reading about the EJK and thought it looked promising from reviews I had read. I am not really looking to try and squeeze it for max hp, more keeping it healthy. The stock pipe is just too quiet

Dynojet makes a powerjet FC for the 2021+ KLX300.  Removing the secondary throttle plate is a pretty common free mod.  EHS Racing has an EFI controller for the Barker exhaust, STP removal and air box mod.  I would go with the Barker exhaust over anything else.

RustyRD

Thanks for the info, I have looked at Barker's and saw the controller that was recommended for the exhaust. 600$ price tag for the pipe sorta hurts my feelings, I am sure it is likely the front runner in HP output. Gathering info for an informed decision. Last thing I want is to use a controller that creates issues, I have noticed that I am  getting short on patience these days.  :umm:

dynojet can suck a fat one. when i updated my software for the CB1100 i got this notice, so a paywall coming in 2 mos. fuck these guys. For years really good, after they got dinged and dropped the V and went to the 6 (which was terrible to get working), they went to hell fast.

That suuuucks.  I had no idea.  Looks like Dynojet drops off any list I have.

RustyRD

AGREED, they are a hard no for myself. just the kinda of crap I am hoping to avoid. Thanks Mark for sharing this.

I'll fire it up in a few mos see exactly what i can and cant do, i have an auto tune unit and a PC6 on there. If it cant do ANYTHING  i'll pull the autotune off (its not being used now anyway) and run it statically (its a really good map) but the premise really pisses me the fuck off.

If you just want it to breath better, and make more noise, you can probably go this route for a lot less $$:

On My WR250R I left the stock exhaust, because for me it is loud enough, and the 1-2HP gains from spending $600 on an exhaust system seems foolish  :twocents:  I did spend about $1000 on the suspension.  As far as fueling mods, I did remove the AIS, did some air box mods and added a K&N. And added the EJK, just to make sure it still ran smoothly, not really in search of power.
I understood, when I bought the Yamaha, that I bought a motorcycle that makes less than 30HP, and I am fine with it.  If I wanted more HP I would have bought a Beta 390 or 500.

(I do understand that the AIS has nothing to do with fuel settings, as it is down stream of the combustion chamber.)
