Got this basket case 30+ years ago thinkin I'd build a "cafe racer" fast forward with other 2 stroke projects, the Thc RD and the lammys etc. and cafe being a cliche these days I still wanna build this with the vision I had then but with the knowledge I've gained since.  basket rat.jpg  more pix to come......

Got it goin with an HPI ignition during the covid lock down. then moved and focused on the THC RD. So now I"m  startin the tear down. IMG_1330.jpg

yeah.. progress! looks good. and pipelyne chambers. you going to run those?

lawnboy

Gonna run the pipelynes. Soft spot for them since they were made locally. Got a spoked rear hub I need to figure out how to set up and need to get a better set of shox. Rebuilt crank on the bench right now and top end is off to SCR. Also need to figure out how to mount the Benelli clone tank. It is rewarding to really get the ball rolling on this. I've moved 4 times since i got this thing so the only miles it's seen has been in  the back of my truck.  :bang:

One of my best buddy's brother in law worked for Dean Moro at Pipelynes in the late '70's/early '80's when they were over on Monterey Rd in South SJ.

I had a set on my 350B in the '90's, and maybe they don't make the most power, but they're lightweight,  sound fantastic and tuck in so nice under the frame. Def my favorite of all the old school pipes, and just like Bonanza minibikes, they are local.

Looking forward to more progress!  :whoop:

hope to get top end back from SCR soon. Gonna do the rm vforce 3 set up as per mnsc.
haven't looked into getting everything needed to set up the rear disc yet. not sure really what's involved besides caliper/master and hanger, hoses etc. different axle and spacers? anybody got detailed info for this mod?

i mean, its easier to do the full 400 swingarm swap w hanger. just depends how you want to approach it.

I bought a rear spoke hub also, probably 10 years ago for a build (not yet working on much). Anyway, I contacted Buchanans for spokes, they sent me spokes which sat on a shelf for maybe a year. I laced wheel, every spoke hits the hub and to get them in wheel, they had to be bent(bowed)??? I put the wheel on the shelf, still there, will probably need to send to them for correct parts, so i will be curious to see how yours comes out, good luck, keep up the good work.

Nice work! What are you planning for the top end? They definitely respond well to some basic porting and getting the squish right. 250 Heads are available pretty cheaply and they're easy to have recut for 350s.

lawnboy

Just mild porting and o ringed head done by Scott Clough.
