FPP Pipes

Looking at collecting parts for an RD project and I come across a bike with FPPs.
I see i8d8tr has them posted in the pipe thread. There isn't any info on what kind of power they make.
Any opinions?

Does anybody know if you can get replacements for the aluminum silencer part?

I was able to pick up the later style cans used on EBay reasonable. See the pipes identification thread for pictures of both styles on my RZ and my H2 late and early respectively. The early style with the internal spring and removable end cap is harder to find. FPP is only doing watercraft pipes now.

the cans need repacking time to time, and oyu have to keep an eye on the baffle tube cracking. a broken one cost me a motor rebuild once.

Let me rephrase that. The company, FPP, doesn't offer any parts if you need to service your chambers.

Check at Tyga usa. Their silencers are nicely constructed and they offer the mounting flanges as well. Around $58 each for the cans. They have a long and short model aluminum and a carbon($$). Took about two weeks to get them.

I already picked up a set of Tygas, but now I see they are selling silencers with spring mounts that look pretty cool.
Their quality looks really good. Pity they dont make Rd pipes, their welds on the stainless are awesome.

I have a set on my RD as well and love them.  Currently running shorter silencers but overall the pipes are very light and make good usable power.  If you decide to go another way Ill happily buy them ;D

when I was on Tygas site last I saw those damn crossover stainless LC chambers...I have seen some have managed to put the LC chambers on an air cooled. I just cant convince myself to do it. Already have a perfectly good set of spec II's. Those pipes are sure sexy!

On my 350 they make a lot of power high up in the RPM range. Lower down not so much. If you like riding "on the pipe" then they might be for you. Chuck was trying to tune some better low and midrange power into my bike at the gap and didn't have much success. His comment was that FPP's on a 350 were great for drag racing but not that streetable from his perspective. We dropped the front sprocket to a 14.

I like them well enough. It isn't always practical to run above 6k rpm everywhere but it rips and shreds when you do. Power hits rather abruptly. The sound is less pingy than other chambers.

I was trying to get the correct size from Factory for the silencer C clips. FPP says they don't even have the drawings or specs anymore. They haven't made motorcycle pipes for 25 years.

For some reason I was under the impression that FPP pipes were Toomey design that they manufactured after the designer got out of production.

If so Toomey pipes for the RZ were known to make great power but only at the top end and lost everywhere else to every other pipe maker IIRC.  Good for anyone that keeps a bike in the powerband, but not so good for keeping a license.
